10.5.21 ICU 9

Aimee had a pretty good night overall. Many of her labs are trending in the right direction. She has been quite warm, which is very very odd. She is in here all toasty with only a sheet covering her. I have socks, a sweatshirt and a blanket… even her feet and calves are cooking. Not the usual for her. They are switching antibiotics again to one more tailored to the cultures grown. Hopefully that will help with temperature stability.

Still working on hydration, heart rate, blood pressure. Today they plan to push her by turning down the breathing rate on the vent. They hope that if her co2 goes high enough that she will start initiating breathes on her own. I have my doubts that it will work well, as in the past that trigger hasn’t functioned, but we are in the right place for these types of trials. If it does go well, they can extubate her to a full face mask bipap.
