There was not a blockage, but instead something caused her small intestine to stop moving and as it filled it got heavy and twisted over on itself. They untwisted it and emptied out a lot of stool (she lost about 7 lbs during surgery!). Thankfully the intestine was still healthy looking and none of it had to be removed.
She is sedated and intubated for now. We will move forward with more plans in the morning. Unfortunately… we still don’t know the root cause of all of this. Something caused her bowel to stop. Was it the UTI? Her pancreas is also inflamed and there is clear liquid around from it. They are not sure at this point what is the cause.
