10.4.21 ICU 6

The plan for today is an extubation readiness test this afternoon and a central line placement or possibly a PiCC Line for TPN. No other changes at the moment. We are consulting with GI, General Surgery, pulmonary, palliative care, and MCC to sort out what is happening, has happened, and should happen now. The indicators at this point say sepsis secondary to a UTI or pancreas infection, but it isn’t completely clear. The sepsis would then have caused her small intestine to suddenly stop functioning, which allowed stool to build up and caused it to grow so heavy that it twisted forward on itself.

It looks like we will be here for awhile. Depending on how things progress, 3 plus weeks is very likely. 💔
