And once to interventional radiology for a NJ tube.
Here is the most important news, Aimee is comfortable. She slept beautifully last night with a nice low, normal heart rate. She was alert this morning and calm. Her body is not full of tension and agitation. She is opening her eyes fully and interacting a bit. Everyone coming to care for her has been commenting on the difference in how she is. She has been sleeping alot this afternoon, but it is fair. Like good, honest tired from activity. Her belly has also decreased in size significantly!
This morning’s dexa scan went well. The room was so small that we had to transfer her from her bed onto a stretcher out in the hallway in order to get her inside the room. Then inside the room, we had to transfer her to the table. Then reverse to leave. It was a bit ridiculous. The scan itself was fine. Nothing to report particularly. It is to give us a baseline for where her bone density is at before we do her first infusion.
After this trip, I met with the doctor and she pulled the GJ tube out. They placed a regular g tube temporarily. From there the second trip was to the IR for an NJ placement. It did not go well and was ultimately unsuccessful. Despite multiple different guide wires and different positions, they couldn’t get the tube in place. :( This is disappointing as it was our best current shot at getting the NG replogl out.
Tomorrow she will go back to the IR for a new GJ placement.
Ed sent me this picture from home tonight along with a quote from Wallie. “Caleb, look at our house. It has Christmas lights on it. It’s so talented.”
