3.20.15 A Good Day

Aimee did it. She had a full good day yesterday. She took in full meals at a decent rate and was energetically awake. This morning's tearful hours have me hesitant to say it out loud, but I believe we are nearing the end of this illness!

3.15.15 A Rainbow

There is good news in the mess.
Tonight is a tough one for Aimee. While she is still recovering from rhinovirus, she has a 6 year molar cracking through the swollen gum and it is difficult to stop the bleeding. We have been suctioning a lot of blood and venting it from her stomach. Poor dear is so irritated with me for stuffing her mouth with gauze and keeping my fingers in there to add pressure.

This mess contains good news. :) She is fighting really hard, even using her fingers and tongue to protest my treatment.
Wonderful to see her using her hands to protect herself! Keep at it Aimee!

3.11.15 Still Fighting

Poor Aimee is exhausted. I am having a tough time weighing putting her on bipap or not. If I do, the wound on her nose won't heal and she cries because it hurts. If I don't, she doesn't get good rest and it is harder for her to breath.

Had to cancel her big Neurodvelopmental appt for today as we trudge around in circles finding our way back to health. She gains energy, which loosens secretions. This causes her to lose fluids as she coughs and vomits. We back down her intake rates. She loses energy. She fights to get good oxygen and stay hydrated. As she steps back into wiped out sleep, we are able to up her fluids. She gains energy and the cycle begins again. It's a long, dizzying process, yet I am thankful to be spinning at home!

3.7.15 update

Aimee is becoming more alert. She is uncomfortable and still fighting. We are keeping her monitored, as her heart rate is still high, her oxygen has low periods, and she is still on continuous fluids. Being on bipap does help with her heart rate and oxygen, but we are trying to limit her time on it due to the wound on the bridge of her nose. Continued prayer appreciated.

3.5.15 Success!

Aimee made it out the door and all the way home!! She perked up just being in her own bed. I don't blame her. We are in recovery mode now and slowly working on feeding while keeping up lots of respiratory treatments. Thankful!!

3.3.15 No Go

Today was not the roaring success I had hoped for Aimee. As soon as I requested discharge papers, we had setbacks. Vomiting, nose bleeds, seizures, and pain. Respiratory issues have improved.

3.3.15 Last Test

We have one more test to pass. A final blood draw and then, assuming she does well, I will be able to take Aimee home. She is still quite sick, but at a point where I feel comfortable caring for her on my own with all the wonderful machines we have and the added new inhalers. Hoping that in a few more days we will see some open eyes and perhaps a little Aimee smile.
